Toronto the dream city through your lenses
EPISODE 1: TORONTO TAKES
Toronto, the dream City through your lenses
(1) Nathan Philips Square
(2) Toronto Eaton Centre
(3) Yonge Street (Main Ontario to Minnesota)
(4) Yonge Dundas Square
The first scene of their take is at the Nathan Philips Square. Nathan Philips Square is one of the most distinguishing landmark of Toronto designed by Canadian landscape architects and Finnish architects. Their introduction to us is quite cool and makes a suspense tone in their journey from Nathan Philips Square to Yonge Dundas Square. I like the fact that the Yonge Dundas Square is shown as a replica of New York Times Square. A mild version of New York Times Square can be seen in the United Kingdom too at Piccadilly Circus.
From Nathan Philips Square, Aswathy Vijayakumar and Pravidha Menon must have taken the route through Bay Street towards Yonge street to the shopping mall. I actually noticed the route they have taken, the Toronto Eaton Centre is facing the Yonge Street which means they should have taken a rear or side entrance to the mall. Such building entries are also seen in Canary Wharf where the main road to Canary Wharf banking buildings from the rail station is taken through another building which acts as a bridge between the skyscrapers and the station. The good point here is that you get to see the Swiss stock exchange building at Canary Wharf.
Yonge Street is indeed one of the longest street and the street including the extensions of it has appeared in the Guinness Book of Records. The similar streets or roads are seen in Dubai where Palm Jumeira is built bespoke and they are pretty long as well, the Yonge Street without the highway extensions is about 35 miles long, amazing isn't?
Finally we move on to Yonge Dundas Square which is a commercial place for big businesses. I can find from street view Canada's fashion companies, communications and media companies, cinemas, electronics companies and many more.
By introducing you to the landmarks they have shown to you, we take you to the next episode.
